About, MOSSO-KAN LLC
Mosso-Kan was created by Barakissa Coulibaly in 2014 , the inspiration to create the all-female dance group came from the desire to show the incredible beauty and strength of women all around the world. She started her career in traditional dance in 1990 with Fotemogoban, an Ivorian Dance Troupe, and performed internationally with Djolem in Switzerland, Greece, France, and Germany. She eventually moved to Florida where she facilitated presentations for the University of Florida, taught weekly dance classes, and toured the country providing dance workshops & presentations for various communities and private entities. She is a member of CID at UNESCO, an African choreographer and teacher from Abobo, Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. Mosso-Kan in Dioula translates to, "the voice of women". The dancers and musicians unite through the art of African Dance and Music!
Mosso-Kan proposes to expand cultural knowledge utilizing traditional West African Arts & Culture. We are exposing individuals to the healing process of mind, body, and spirit connections, through intentional West African dance & drum. Our annual Don-Ba Dance & Drum Conference in an inclusive event filled with various African dance and drumming styles. Instructors and dancers throughout the world have the opportunity to come together for learning, healing, dance and music.
The hope is to support a community-oriented space which will be an inclusive, safe, and exciting environment of learning through African Arts & Culture. An additional component of the program will include health, nutrition, self-care, and awareness classes & workshops.
